Richard O'Connor

Richard specialises in the valuation of Intellectual Property Rights. In particular he values intangible assets such as goodwill, trademarks and brands as part of commercial transactions. He holds a BA in Accounting and Human Resource Management and a M.Sc. in Technology and Innovation Management. He is also a certified Patent Value Analyst. He has worked in a number of industries, including manufacturing and tourism, which has given him an insight into the workings and needs of various areas of production and service provision.

Before joining Cruickshank in 2003, Richard spent eight years working in the business-to-business services area for the Irish operations of UK plc’s including Reed and Hays. As Managing Partner, he plays an important role in client liaison. Responsible for the commercial activities of the practice, Richard uses his wealth of practical experience to advise all clients, from individuals to multinationals, how best to protect, utilise and profit from their Intellectual Property Rights.

Richard is a European and Irish Trade Mark Attorney and a member of the Licensing Executives Society (LES). He is currently the President of the Irish Group of AIPPI. He has presented several lectures on the commercial implications of Intellectual Property in Ireland for organisations such as the Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association (ISME), University College Dublin, Dublin Chamber of Commerce and Dublin BIC.

Qualifications: BA in Accountancy and Human Resources; M.Sc. in Technology and Innovation; European and Irish Trade Mark Attorney.
